Visalia Man Sentenced to Over 100 Years for Crimes against Children
On February 2, 2026, in Department 4 of the Tulare County Superior Court, the court sentenced Richard Bomhard, age 81, to a total of 104 years to life in prison for crimes against children.
On December 4, 2025, a Tulare County jury convicted Bomhard of 11 counts of child molestation against a single female minor victim. The crimes are alleged to have been committed between March 2014 and March 2021.
After Bomhard’s arrest for the crimes in 2021, he posted bail and was out of custody during the trial process. On the day of the verdict, Bomhard failed to appear at the verdict’s reading and again failed to appear at a remand time the next morning. An arrest warrant was issued by the court, and Bomhard was taken into custody without incident by the Visalia Police Department on December 5, 2025.
In addition to his sentence, Bomhard must register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Clare and was investigated by the Visalia Police Department.
