Gang Violence Division

The Gang Violence Division handles all adult felony cases involving violent crimes, gang crimes, and career criminal prosecutions.

Special Crimes Division

The Special Crimes Division prosecutes auto theft cases, marijuana suppression, rural/agricultural crimes, rape cases, Violence Against Women Act prosecutions, and elder abuse.

The Financial Crimes Division is responsible for prosecuting real estate fraud cases, white collar crimes, asset forfeiture actions, welfare fraud and consumer protection cases.

Crimes Against Children Division

The Crimes Against Children Division, was created by District Attorney Tim Ward in 2014. Staffed by a team of experienced prosecutors, this division handles cases of child abuse, neglect, sexual molestation, and violence crimes (including homicide) involving child victims.

Porterville Division

The Porterville Division is responsible for the Porterville Courts and all criminal cases heard in those courts. It prosecutes over 5,000 cases per year from felonies to misdemeanors for the cities of Lindsay to Porterville and outlining areas. This is the second highest total number of cases prosecuted within Tulare County. Cases range from driving under the influence, thefts, assaults, and other violent crimes. 

Juvenile Division

The Juvenile Division prosecutes all felony and misdemeanor juvenile cases within the County of Tulare. Prosecutors in the Juvenile Division screen cases for informal supervision, certification to adult court, and traditional prosecution. The Office of the District Attorney recognizes the impact of gang crimes in the community and the importance of attempting to stop juvenile involvement in gangs. To this end, a deputy district attorney is assigned to vertically prosecute juvenile gang cases

Special Projects Division

The Special Projects Division includes the Forensic Mental Health Unit which handles mental disability petition requests and other mental health cases. It also includes the Public Administrator Unit which consists of a specially assigned deputy district attorney that is responsible for administering decedents’ estates in the absence of an executor.
