County Men to Remain in Prison for Involvement in Drive By Shootings
Two Tulare County men will remain in prison for their roles in separate drive by shootings.
Noel Ambriz, age 33, was denied parole for 3 years by a California parole board on July 15, 2026. Just before 4 pm on June 23, 2008, in the Tipton area, Ambriz and others committed a drive by shooting of a residence occupied by numerous individuals. The crime was witnessed by a Tulare County Sheriff’s deputy who stopped the fleeing vehicle after a brief chase.
At his 2010 trial, a jury found Ambriz guilty of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, shooting from a moving vehicle, and six counts of assault with a firearm. The charges were enhanced with the special allegations that the crimes constituted street terrorism. Ambriz was sentenced to 15 years to life and is currently incarcerated at Folsom State Prison. This was his second hearing after being previously denied for 5 years in 2021. Ambriz has incurred numerous rules violations while in prison, including weapons possession and battery.
Jesus Camilio Sanchez, 36, stipulated to parole unsuitability for 3 years at a hearing on July 15, 2026. After midnight on February 4, 2009, in Tulare, Sanchez, a gang member, drove himself and other men to a residence where they shot at the home with a handgun and shotgun, striking a 15-year-old victim in the leg. On March 24 in Tulare, Sanchez and others shot another 15-year-old who was walking alone, hitting the victim in the arm. Police arrested Sanchez at a traffic stop and recovered a handgun hidden under a seat. While he initially denied his involvement in the shootings, Sanchez claimed the violence was in retaliation for a prior incident.
In February 2010, Sanchez pleaded no contest to two counts of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, shooting from a moving vehicle, assault with a firearm, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, street terrorism, discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, and witness intimidation. He was sentenced to 25 years and is currently incarcerated at Pleasant Valley State Prison. While in prison, Sanchez has incurred numerous rules violations including fighting and battery.
