Violent Offender Denied Parole for 1995 Crime Spree

On June 25, 2026, via video conference, TCDA prosecutors secured a 5-year denial of parole for Senarble Demonze Campbell, age 52. Campbell committed a series of sexual assaults and armed robberies over the course of an evening and morning in late 1995 in Visalia. He is currently serving a life sentence at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo.

Around 7:30 pm on December 26, 1995, Campbell and another man entered a 7-Eleven store in Visalia. As the men approached the counter, they pulled ski masks over their faces. Armed with a pellet gun that resembled a handgun, Campbell and his accomplice demanded the clerk to open the register. After taking cash, the men believed an alarm had been tripped and left the store.

Later that evening, Campbell went to the Oak Tree Inn. There, he knocked on a door and an 11-year-old boy answered while leaving the chain lock in place. A masked Campbell asked for someone named “Michael.” When the boy denied knowing anyone by that name and attempted to shut the door, Campbell shoved the barrel of the gun through the door to prevent it from closing. Campbell then lifted his mask and walked away.

That same evening, Campbell and his accomplice went to another Visalia convenience store. After pulling down their masks, Campbell approached two female clerks, putting his gun to one clerk’s head. With both women behind the counter, Campbell sexually assaulted them. The men then left the store with two bottles of brandy.

Around 5 am the next morning on December 27, a masked and armed Campbell arrived at an apartment complex and knocked on the door of a random unit. A woman, 8 and half months pregnant, opened the door believing it was her boyfriend unexpectedly returning from work. Campbell forced his way into the apartment with his gun and told the victim he was there to rob her. The victim’s four-year-old daughter was also in the apartment, asleep in her room. Campbell proceeded to rape the victim three times. Campbell then made two phone calls, one of which he bragged about his robberies. The victim was able to memorize the number that she saw Campbell dial. Campbell then had the victim disable the phone, took a boombox, and left.

The victim immediately called police and gave them the phone number she had memorized. Cross referencing the phone number with the associated address, police located Campbell and took him into custody.

At his 1997 trial, a jury convicted Campbell of forcible rape, sexual assault, multiple counts of robbery, sexual battery, and brandishing a firearm. The court sentenced him to 27 years to life in prison. While incarcerated, Campbell has incurred several sexually related rules violations.

This was Campbell’s second parole hearing. In his initial 2016 hearing, parole commissioners issued a 10-year denial.

The Office of the District Attorney regularly attends life parole hearings and a deputy district attorney argued against the inmate’s release in this case. Also present were victims and members of their families who addressed commissioners with the assistance of TCDA victim advocates.
