Tulare Man Found Guilty of 24 Counts of Child Molestation

Today in Department 6 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Judge Gary Paden presiding, a Tulare County jury found Anthony Myers, age 36, of Tulare, guilty of one count of oral copulation of a minor under the age of ten, one count of attempted oral copulation of a minor under the age of ten, ten counts of forcible lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, four counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, eight counts of lewd act upon a child age 15, and one count of possession of child pornography. The jury also found true the special allegation of substantial sexual conduct and that the crimes were committed against multiple victims. Each count is a felony and 24 of the counts are strike offenses.

Ten of the crimes occurred between April 1, 2004, and January 14, 2010, against a female victim who was between five and ten-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults. Eight of the crimes occurred between May 8, 2014, and May 7, 2015, against a female victim who was 15-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults. Six of the crimes occurred between December 5, 2013, and June 8, 2017, against a female victim who was between four and seven-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults. Myers possessed child pornography on or about June 30, 2017. All twenty-five crimes occurred in various locations within the county.

Sentencing is set for October 12, 2018, in Department 6 where Myers faces 240 years-to-life in state prison. Myers will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Wayt of the Crimes against Children Division and investigated by Detective Matt Muller of the Tulare Police Department.
