Sex Offender Again Convicted of Crimes against Children After New Victim Comes Forward

A Tulare County sex offender who was sentenced to prison in 2015 was again convicted of crimes against children after a new victim came forward.

In 2015, Godofredo Gomez, now age 52 and a popular Spanish language DJ in Cutler Orosi at the time, pleaded no contest to six counts of felony child molestation. The crimes were committed between 2010 and 2012 against two minor female victims. Other victims were suspected and investigated at the time. The court sentenced Gomez to 18 years in prison with over 3 years already served awaiting trial in county jail.

On the day of his sentencing in December 2015, a third victim came forward with evidence that Gomez had assaulted her when she was 8 years old. Prosecutors again filed criminal charges against Gomez who was now in CDCR custody. The case paused while Gomez served his sentence. In 2024, Gomez was arraigned on the new charges and transferred from CDCR back to county jail.

At trial on October 28, 2026, TCDA prosecutors secured guilty verdicts against Gomez on five counts of child molestation with special allegations the abuse was substantial and that he was in a position of trust. The crimes were committed between 2008 and 2011 against the third minor female victim. Gomez’s two prior victims testified against him at trial.

“This is a case of courage and perseverance,” said Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward. “We understand that young victims, especially those of sexual assault, may not report a crime immediately. This survivor’s courage and willingness to come forward should serve as an example of hope for anyone else wondering if they should contact law enforcement. I applaud TCDA staff for making sure this victim got her justice.”

Sentencing is scheduled for December 8, 2026, in Tulare County Superior Court where Gomez faces up to 16 years in state prison. He remains in custody.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Varner and was investigated by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and the TCDA Bureau of Investigations.
