Porterville Woman Charged for Killing Boyfriend with Hammer
District Attorney Tim Ward has announced criminal charges against Rosa Baca, age 51, for an incident on December 17, 2018, which resulted in the death of her 38-year-old boyfriend.
Baca is charged with murder and the special circumstance of torture, along with the special allegation of use of a deadly weapon. She is also charged with injuring a spouse or cohabitant with the special allegations of causing great bodily injury – domestic violence, and use of a deadly weapon. If convicted on all counts, Baca faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole and is eligible for the death penalty.
Baca was arraigned at the county pre-trial facility this afternoon and will return to court for a preliminary hearing conference on December 27, 2018, in Department 18 of the Tulare County Superior Court, South County Justice Center. She is being held without bail.
