Porterville Man Found Guilty of Child Molestation During a Burglary, Faces Life Without Parole

Late in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in Department 6 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, a Tulare County jury found Serafin Narciso, age 44, guilty of one count of assault with the intent to commit a lewd act upon a child during the commission of a first-degree burglary, two counts of forcible lewd act upon a child under the age of fourteen and one count of attempted sexual penetration with a child ten years of age or younger. The jury also found true the special allegation that the crimes were committed during the commission of a first-degree burglary. Each count is a felony and considered strike offenses.

Around 8:30 pm on April 25, 2020, Narciso entered a Porterville home while its residents were in the backyard. Inside the house, Narciso committed the crimes against a female victim, who was four years old at the time of the sexual assaults. Narciso and the residents of the home were unknown to each other.

Sentencing is set for July 16, 2025, in Tulare County Superior Court. Due to the crimes having been forcefully committed against a child under the age of 14 during the commission of a burglary, Narciso faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. In addition to his sentence, Narciso will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Chelsea Wayt and investigated by Detective Jesus Gallardo of the Porterville Police Department.
