Murder Charges Filed in Porterville DUI Deaths
District Attorney Tim Ward has announced murder charges stemming from a June 19, 2021, DUI crash in Porterville that took the lives of two children, ages 8 and 10, and left two other children, ages 5 and 13, with severe injuries. One child currently remains in critical condition. An additional two adult victims were also injured.
Elizabeth Nungaray, age 44, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving while under the influence of alcohol causing injury with special allegations of causing great bodily injury to four victims.
Nungaray is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon where a future court date will be set. If convicted on all charges, she faces life in prison.
