Former TCSO Sergeant Indicted on Rape, Domestic Violence Charges
Today former Tulare County Sheriff’s Office sergeant Richard Ramirez, 46, was arraigned on an indictment by a Tulare County Grand Jury on charges of rape, domestic violence, and other crimes.
The eleven-count indictment includes felony forcible rape, spousal rape, three counts of dissuading a witness, two counts of injuring a spouse, stalking, misdemeanor battery, annoying telephone calls, and disobeying a court order. The crimes allegedly occurred between October 2008 and July 2020 in Tulare County against two victims.
The indictment supplants an eight-count complaint alleging similar charges in September 2019, and additionally alleges post-complaint conduct involving the disobedience of a court order.
Following arraignment on the indictment, Ramirez was taken into custody on no bail. A jury trial is scheduled to begin on September 15, 2020, in Department 14 in Visalia.
