Farmersville Gang Member Denied Parole
Via video conference on July 7, 2021, TCDA prosecutors successfully argued against parole for Omar Galeana, 35.
In the late evening of July 16, 2006, Tulare County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a Visalia area residence on Road 124 concerning an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim had been shot in the head. Earlier, the victim and others were playing basketball in the victim’s front yard when a black sedan drove past. The car returned a second time and its occupants opened fire while shouting gang slogans. The victim was taken inside the residence.
Through investigation, Galeana was determined to have planned the shooting and was driving the car when the shooting took place. He and two others were arrested for the crime in 2007.
In May 2010, Galeana pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter, three counts of attempted murder, and shooting at an inhabited dwelling. The following month, Galeana was sentenced to over 40 years in state prison. While incarcerated, Galeana has incurred several infractions, including violent behavior and possession of a cell phone. Galeana was convicted of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury against another inmate in 2013 and was sentenced to 4 years to run consecutively to his current sentence.
Parole was denied for 5 years. The Office of the District Attorney regularly attends life parole hearings and a senior deputy district attorney argued against the inmate’s release in this case.
