Environmental Crimes
Established in 2011, the District Attorney’s Environmental Protection Unit is dedicated to the enforcement of laws which protect the environment & health of Tulare County citizens. Our goal is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws, and deter future violations. To do this, the District Attorney’s Office files criminal charges or civil lawsuits on behalf of the People of the State of California, to obtain injunctions to stop unlawful and illegal practices, seek restitution and/or civil penalties, and to punish harmful activity. The District Attorney Environmental Protection Unit works closely with local and state agencies to ensure the safety and health of our environment.
If you see an environmental crime involving the quality of our air or water, the handling of hazardous or solid waste, or the use of pesticides, call local authorities or report online to the California EPA.
