Conviction Secured in Harassment of Child at Visalia Sports Park
On Friday, March 4, 2022, in Tulare County Superior Court, TCDA Crimes against Children prosecutors secured a misdemeanor jury conviction for Seth Vasquez, age 24, for annoying or molesting a child.
In two incidents from April 16, 2021, to April 22, 2021, at the Riverway Sports Park in Visalia, Vasquez was identified as having made lewd comments towards minor children. In one incident, Vasquez made graphic sexual comments regarding a 4-year-old in front of the child’s parent and other witnesses. The parent called police and was able to retrieve the license plate number of Vasquez’s vehicle.
Despite prosecutors advocating that he be remanded into custody, Vasquez remains out of custody pending sentencing. Conditions until that time include staying away from parks and schools, and not obtaining employment where there is unsupervised contact with children.
Though the elements of this specific case could only be charged as a misdemeanor under California law, Vasquez faces a possible jail sentence and a mandatory minimum 10-year sex offender registration.
The case was prosecuted by deputy district attorney Kelly Habroun of the Crimes against Children Division and was investigated by the Visalia Police Department.
