On December 13, 2019, in Department 1 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Judge Melinda Reed presiding, a jury found Randy Scroggins, age 44, guilty of attempting to kill his wife. Scroggins was convicted of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, domestic violence, and being felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. This conviction constituted Scroggin’s third strike under California’s “Three Strikes” law.

A massive manhunt was launched by law enforcement to locate him. His wife was taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital where she recovered from her injuries. Scroggins was located back at the residence twelve days later on June 2, 2019, and was taken into custody after a seven-hour standoff with the Tulare County Sheriff’s SWAT Team.

Sentencing is scheduled for February 13, 2020, where Scroggins faces 77 years-to-life in prison.
