Visalia Man Sentenced to State Prison for Domestic Violence, Pimping
Today in Department 3 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Judge Nathan Leedy sentenced Roger Weaver, age 26, to seven years in state prison for domestic violence and pimping. On April 2, 2019, Weaver pleaded no contest to all counts filed against him: one count of corporal injury to a spouse, one count of making criminal threats, one count of false imprisonment, one count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, one count of pimping, one count of pandering, and one misdemeanor count of exhibiting a deadly weapon. In a separate case, Weaver pleaded to one misdemeanor count of exhibiting a deadly weapon. Weaver possesses a 2012 strike for robbery.
On July 13, 2018, Visalia Police Department officers and members of the Tulare County Human Trafficking Task Force executed a sting operation at a local motel. During the operation, officers contacted the victim, who stated that she, in conjunction with Weaver, prostituted herself to make money. Weaver would arrange for the sex acts to take place. Weaver was booked and later released on bail.
On July 22, 2018, officers were dispatched to Weaver’s residence regarding a disturbance involving the victim from the week before. Through investigation, it was learned that Weaver struck her multiple times in the head, resulting in swelling and lacerations. During the incident, Weaver threatened that he would have her killed. The victim attempted to defend herself with a screwdriver, but it was taken by Weaver and brandished towards her. After failing to turn himself in, Weaver was arrested on August 4, 2018.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Eric Wang and investigated by the Visalia Police Department and the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations.
