District Attorney Tim Ward Sworn In to New Term

This afternoon in the Tulare County Board of Supervisors Chambers in Visalia, District Attorney Tim Ward was sworn in to his second four-year term. The oath of office was administered by the Honorable Judge Kerri Lopez of the Tulare County Superior Court. In addition to his swearing in, Ward administered the oath of office to all prosecutors and criminal investigators.

“Take pride in what you do and how you do it. Our communities are directly impacted by how this office works,” Ward told staff. “Our state and its perception of justice is changing. But one thing will remain certain, and that is our focus and care for victims of crime. We must truly be authentic in our core duty of championing their rights. It is our distinct honor to stand and answer “ready” for the people.”

Ward has been District Attorney since 2012, succeeding long time District Attorney Phil Cline after his retirement. Ward won election for District Attorney in 2014 and again in 2018. He has served in the Office of the District Attorney in several prosecutorial and administrative positions since 1999. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and Western State University College of Law, Ward served as an officer in the United States Army from 1989 to 1992, and was discharged honorably at the rank of Captain. In addition to his duties in Tulare County, Ward serves on the statewide board of directors for the California District Attorneys Association.
