Parole Denied in 1994 Visalia Murder

Parole Denied in 1994 Visalia Murder

On September 11, 2019, at the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in Corcoran, a California parole board denied the release of Jon Gregorich, age 45, for the 1994 murder of a Visalia man. Gregorich received a three-year denial.

In the early morning of May 5, 1994, outside of the former Shagnasty’s bar in Visalia, Gregorich and two other men, Leo Sisco and Rocky Rodrigues, beat an 18-year-old man to death after a brief altercation.  A friend of the victim said that he was unrecognizable after the beating.

In 1995, Gregorich was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 15 years-to-life in prison. Sisco was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to 15 years-to-life. He was granted parole in 2015. Rodrigues was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to four years in prison.

This was Gregorich’s fourth parole hearing. The District Attorney’s Office routinely attends life parole hearings and a senior deputy district attorney argued against inmate’s release in this case.
