Charges Filed in DUI Motorcycle Deaths
District Attorney Tim Ward has announced criminal charges against Jazmin Paramo, age 24, for a DUI incident that took the lives of four people on August 4, 2019, on Highway 65 near Strathmore. It is alleged that Paramo was driving the wrong way on the highway and struck two motorcycles carrying the victims.
Paramo is charged with four felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one felony count of driving the wrong way on a divided highway causing injury or death, and one misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license.
If convicted on all counts, Paramo faces up to 16 years in state prison.
Paramo was arraigned this afternoon in Department 16 of the Tulare County Superior Court, South County Justice Center in Porterville. Bail was set at $400,000. Paramo is scheduled to return to court in Department 23 for a bail hearing on August 8, 2019, and a preliminary hearing conference on August 14, 2019.
