Cheyenne Wyllie Pleads to DUI Murders

Today in Department 5 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Cheyenne Wyllie, age 28, pleaded no contest to two counts of second-degree murder against Angelita Espinosa and Jamie Espinosa, as well as felony driving under the influence causing injury with the special allegation of causing great bodily injury. The crimes occurred on March 26, 2016.

“Today Cheyenne Wyllie has taken responsibility for her actions that caused so much pain for so many,” said District Attorney Tim Ward. “I hope that today also begins a time of healing for the Espinosa family, and that they take solace in the love that others have for them, Angelita and Jamie. I ask the community to honor them and all those who have lost loved ones to this kind of tragedy by being safe on the road and never driving under the influence.”

Captain Damon Gilmore, Visalia CHP Commander said, “I continue to pray for the Espinosa family’s peace and closure. I am incredibly proud of the hard work and tenacity of our CHP investigators and the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office in pursing and securing justice for Cheyenne Wyllie’s wanton disregard for human life. This is a reminder to everyone that drinking and driving can have life altering consequences.” Wyllie will face a sentence of 19 years, 4 months-to-life in prison at sentencing scheduled on September 17, 2019, in Department 5.
