Porterville Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Child Molestation
Today in Department 5 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Judge Joseph Kalashian sentenced Eloy Joven, age 33, of Porterville, to 122 years-to-life in prison for child molestation.
On August 30, 2018, a Tulare County jury found Joven guilty of two counts of sodomy of a minor under the age of ten, four counts of oral copulation of minor under the age of ten, and four counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of fourteen. The jury also found true the special allegation of substantial sexual conduct. Each count is a felony and considered a strike offense.
The crimes were alleged to have occurred between July 23, 2008, and March 21, 2015, against one male victim. Most of the specific criminal acts occurred when the victim was between six and eight-years-old. All crimes occurred within the City of Porterville.
In addition to his sentence, Joven will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Wayt of the Crimes against Children Division and investigated by Corporal Jose Dominguez of the Porterville Police Department.
