Investigation Continues in Tulare Officer Involved Shooting, K9 Death

District Attorney Tim Ward has announced that no criminal charges have been filed at this time in connection with an officer involved shooting during the evening of December 9, 2018, in Tulare, which involved Cameron Ware, age 28.

“This incident has no doubt shocked our community and I understand the pressing desire for as much information as possible as quickly as possible,” said District Attorney Ward. “It is of paramount importance that a thorough, exhaustive investigation be completed for a full understanding of the events of that fateful evening. We have full confidence in the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office to investigate this incident. At this time, preliminary information provided to us indicates that Mr. Ware was not driving the vehicle, nor did he fire any shots. However, this is a complex and continuing investigation and we ask for patience as the Sheriff’s Department conducts its investigation.”

“The Tulare Police Department is aware of the current decision of the District Attorney’s Office. We understand that these type of cases are complex and require extensive investigation. We have confidence in the District Attorney’s Office and the Sheriff’s Department to make impartial and unbiased decisions in the matter,” said interim Tulare Police Chief Matt Machado.

Further information will be released if and when it becomes available.
