TCDA Investigators Assist Parole Officers in PC290 Compliance Checks
Yesterday criminal investigators from the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations, as well as officers from the Porterville Police Department, assisted California parole officers in a PC290 sex offender detail to ensure compliance with registrant’s terms of parole.
Conducted in southern Tulare County, a total of 24 compliance checks were made. Seventeen registrants were contacted and searched leading to five arrests. The arrests were made for possessing drug paraphernalia and being under the influence, weapons and pornography possession, having contact with minors, possessing gang paraphernalia, having access to ammunition, and using social media accounts. Penalties for violating the terms of parole can result in a return to prison.
“We in the District Attorney’s Office will be ever vigilant in our efforts to keep ourcommunities safe. In instances like these, our commitment extends far beyond a conviction in court. We are fortunate to have investigators dedicated to do these compliance checks and assist agency partners,” said District Attorney Tim Ward.
